Don't worry it will get upgraded to 18V soon enough(but single battery). First gotta see if it works.

If works will start with 12v just to keep it safer for a 3yr old. But maybe more AH the stock.

I put a 14.4v DeWalt battery in my daughters quad (She's also 3). All I did was cut the stock plug off and put some spade terminal connectors on there and opened them up a little bit with a flat blade screw driver so they would fit over the 2 connector pins on the battery. It's nice having a battery setup that charges quickly and its not hard to find cheap 14v batteries and chargers. It's been running with that setup for well over a year with no issues.

I let the neighbor use my 18v Battery in his daughters quad (she's 5) and it hauled ass for about an hour before it burned up the "posi" or whatever is in there so both back wheels turn. After that went out the quad was pretty much useless though. 1 powered wheel wont get the thing going worth a crap.

I found a place that has the 12v12ah battery for $30 shipped and thought that was reasonable considering the new ones are $70(considering its the same as a UPS battery). I may look into using drill batteries instead since I have a craftsman 18volt set. But thats when I will upgrade to that.

Oh and just a motor burned out in your neighbors there J. cheap fix, and that link steve gave has great info on modding these things.

Well I haven't gotten a battery yet for it, but hopefully this summer he will be able to go to town with it. Been working on getting him to ride his bike without training wheels.
