Senior Whore

i am making this thread for help/tips/tricks for any of us that use it....

also...feel free to post up screen shots of designs.

this is my current design i am working on for my 98 s-10 excab...

it consists of 4 tang band 8 inch subs ported @ 30 hz....my thoughts are "an amp channel per sub'' and that will put my output exactly in the subs rms range.....basically...150 watts per sub RMS......(i have 2-ppi pc-2150s that will handle bass duties)

this is the subwoofer i am designing around

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=264-854

anyway....check out these screenshots from bb6!

this next shot is a comparison of 2 12" dayton titantics in a 5 1/2ish cu ft. ported enclosure tuned to 19 hz.....vs. 4 tang band 8s tuned at 30hz.....

now we must keep in mind that this is a car stereo, not a home theater....so in reality, there is not alot of musical content below 30hz,and it is reaching on our lowest boundaries of hearing.....

i think, for the cost, this could be very respectable.....you have the basic cone area at a fraction of the cost......currently the daytons are $320(for 2) and the tang bands are $240(for 4) plus the tang bands require a smaller box

so c'mon ...let's see what you guys got

bassbox 6

open design window

click "edit" on the toolbar

click 'preferences' on the dropdown menu

click on 'box' tab

that will keep the metric system from tagging you....

but you will still need to manually change the unit for x-max since it is usually measured in "MM"

when calculating a custom square box...make sure that you are set on 'prism,square'...

when entering driver parameters, always make sure you are in ''expert'' mode...

if you don't understand something, there is a very useful ''help'' section......

I just wanted to add a few things...

BB6 is a great program no doubt, but for you tech savvy guys, would it not be nice to have a program that will help you lay out your crossovers as well. By layout I mean help you to design the circuit itself...

BB6 comes with a follow up program called interestingly enuff, X_over Pro.

Here's a couple screen shots to whet your palate...

With this program you could design any crossover circuit your brain can imagine, it also has sample circuits to view and a full help file.

All in all...this cow thinks it rocks!!!...

Have you purchased the subs yet? I only ask because they go on sale at PE, along with TB's damn near entire lineup, at least quarterly.
Also MCM has a knockoff of this sub.

I can't help but show the penny pincher in me.

No i really dont think it is. Im just need to take it to the other computer in the house and see if I am getting the same error. I dont care if its on my laptop or my PC, I just want to toy with the program and get a good idea of what my output is going to be with the two soundsplinter rli10s.

Although, it doesnt really matter i guess, since I already built the box...and, Im not going to build another box for a long time. LONG TIME......

wow, not much traffic here lol. I thought i would add this program.
click download executable Cut List

you put how big your sheet of wood is and put in the piece sizes to see how many sheets you need and how to cut them out of the sheet. Looks like this.

this is the screen you get after you put in the peice sizes, then you move the green rectangles from the left side to the right and fit them on the sheet or sheets. This is a box for my van, I dont have room inside to cut it and its too cold out so im going to some lumberyards and see if I can get it done. Otherwise I just would have picked up a sheet and began ripping.

edit- I couldnt get it to print the picture of the peices, it jus printed out a blank page so I had to copy/paste into paint and shrink it.
