Posting pictures can be accomplished in a few ways. The method of attaching the image to your post using the Manage Attachments button is very easy and effective. However, the following are other alternatives since users have limited attachment space.

Images can be uploaded to a website and then posted by the use of [IMG] tags. You would copy and paste the URL address of the image into your post, and then type [IMG] immediately before it and [/IMG] immediately after it with no spaces. Some picture hosting sites automatically create an [IMG] code that you can copy and paste into your reply on this forum.
Here is an example of an [IMG] posted picture.

Depending on the image size and the browser's connection speed, this can be loathsome to those viewing your post as they may have to wait for the image(s) to load, especially if the images are very large.
The following is a method for posting what is called a thumbnail. You can post thumbnails of your image into your post and it will be much smaller and the forum page will load faster. Yet other users can still see the large version of the image if they so desire, simply by clicking on it.

This is the picture above, except posted as a thumbnail. Note that you can see the large version by clicking on it.

As mentioned, this loads faster and can give other forum users the freedom to view the full size image at their discretion. This helps make everyone's forum experience more enjoyable by not having to wait for pictures to load.

Here's how to type the code for posting a thumbnail when using a browser like Mozilla Firefox:
  1. Upload your image(s) to the picture hosting web site (i.e. Photobucket).
  2. In the gallery view of your picture(s)or the picture you wish to post, you can probably copy the image's "Direct Link" code from a text box below the thumbnail of your picture. If so, copy it and proceed to step 5.
  3. If not, click on the thumbnail so that you can see the picture full size.
  4. Right click on the full size image and select "Copy Image Location".
  5. In your post/reply box on the forum, type [ URL= and then hit Ctrl+V to paste the image location. Close the brackets with the close bracket symbol ].
  6. Then, type [IMG] and paste the image location of the thumbnail. This is usually the same as the ful size image, except with a th_ before the file name in the location address.
  7. Close this image code with [/IMG][/url]
Repeat in the same text box for as many different thumbnails as you need, but be wary of any spaces in the code, as there should not be any. Once you hit Submit Post, this image code will yield thumbnail(s) that link(s) to the full size image(s). You can check to make sure you got it right, by hitting Preview Post.

Here's how to type the code for posting a thumbnail when using a browser like Internet Explorer:
  1. Upload your image(s) to the picture hosting web site (i.e. Photobucket).
  2. In the gallery view of your picture(s)or the picture you wish to post, you can probably copy the image's "Direct Link" code from a text box below the thumbnail of your picture. If so, copy it and proceed to step 6.
  3. If not, click on the thumbnail so that you can see the picture full size.
  4. Right click on the full size image and select "Properties".
  5. Copy the image URL (address).
  6. In your post/reply box on the forum, type [ URL= and then hit Ctrl+V to paste the image location. Close the brackets with the close bracket symbol ].
  7. Then, type [IMG] and paste the image location of the thumbnail. This is usually the same as the ful size image, except with a th_ before the file name in the location address.

Depending on your forum settings, there is another method of posting thumbnails. For it to work, you must have your forum Options for Message Editor set to Enhanced Interface. This is found under Settings & Options and then Edit Options after you click User CP at the top of the forum page.

If using Mozilla Firefox, and a picture hosting web site such as Photobucket,
  • Load your image(s) to the web site.
  • In the gallery view, left click next to the thumbnail you want to post and drag your mouse over it to highlight it.
  • On your keyboard, hit Ctrl+C.
  • Into your reply box on the forum, hit Ctrl+V. This should paste the actual thumbnail into the reply box.
Repeat in the same text box for as many different thumbnails as you need. Once you hit Submit Post, this will yield thumbnail(s) that link(s) to the full size image(s).

If using Internet Explorer, and a picture hosting web site such as Photobucket,
  • Upload your image(s) to the web site.
  • In the gallery view, right click on the thumbnail you want to post.
  • From the menu that pops up, select Copy.

Happy posting!
