one is a smaller truck and the other is a bigger truck.

It all depends on what you use it for and what you like.

I pro for me maybe a con for you.

For starters, the S10 ZQ8 suspension is a specific set up. The "03-06 Silverado suspension" is a pretty vague description.
I'm going to assume you are comparing the S10 ZQ8 to a regular 1500 Silverado with no special add-ons.

In terms of handling and suspension, the 1500 Silverado looks like this:

- ABS
- 3.42:1 axle ratio
- Four disc brakes including four ventilated discs
- Electronic brake distribution
- The brakes are reportedly much much better than the brakes of GM trucks in the past
- Immobilizer
- Wishbone front suspension with stabilizer bar independent with torsion springs
- Solid axle rear suspension rigid with leaf springs
- Payloads range from 1,593 to 2,334 pounds (depending on bed, cab, and drive configuration)
- Cab is stiffened by a magnesium beam behind the instrument panel and a lateral steel beam between the magnesium beam and the right side of the dash ... designed to eliminate squeaks and rattles
- The frame is supposed to be the stiffest and lightest truck frame General Motors has ever built

The S10 with Xtreme package will lay out like this:

- ABS
- various axle ratios
- Front disc brakes
- Rear drum brakes
- Electronic brake distribution
- Wishbone front suspension with coil springs
- Thicker front sway bar (33mm) than base model
- Solid axle rear suspension rigid with leaf springs
- Thicker rear sway bar (23mm) than base model
- Quicker ratio (12:1) steering box over base model
- Upgraded 46mm Decarbon or Bilstein gas shocks over the base model
- Payload is around 1,184 pounds

Not sure if it matters to you, but the Silvy has a full size spare tire where the S10 will not, unless you buy one to replace the donut spare.

Right now I own a 01 Xtreme x-cab.

I am looking into building a good handling truck and I am debating between a reg cab s10 xtreme or a reg cab silverado. (Putting a V8 in either I decide on) Either way the decision will more likely going to be a daily driver. So not going to put roll bars/cages in them. I just like to be capable to have the capablbilites to take it to a autocross/roadcoarse and drag strip.

I figured the s10 would be good on weight to be more nibble and lower center of gavity. Less money in build-up?
But the Silverado would have a wider stance and more room to work on the truck. More money involved in parts?

I plan to have both lowered where there is about an inch of space between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender (when your look from the side)

For some background on my knowledge: I have more knowledge of S10s than Silverados. So I don't know anything about the standards and options the Silverdaos come with.

Anyone on the weight differences between the 2 trucks?

How much wider is the Silverado?

That's a little misleading. Standard Z85 (I think was the code) suspension for the S-10 didn't have a rear sway bar at all.

The last time I had this much fun, I was driving the banana. Of course, back in my day we called it denting the bacon.
